Strategic Partnerships

At Ollon, we treat partnerships as long term investments, not one time deals, built on shared value and mutual growth. We take a Crawl, Walk, Run approach, exploring alignment first, understanding each side's value, then building trust before collaboration scales on its own. Effective partnerships don't start with contracts, they begin with conversations.

Strategic partnerships have become one of the fastest ways for companies to scale, enter new markets, and stay ahead of competitors moving just as fast, and we've watched this play out directly with our own partners. These relationships aren't transactional, they're transformative, a single strong alliance can unlock access to clients, geographies, and industries that would otherwise take years to reach alone. McKinsey's research found 32% year over year growth in corporate startup engagements between 2013 and 2019, with three quarters of Fortune 100 companies maintaining active venture units. More than 75% of technology, media, and telecommunications CEOs now rate partnerships as important or critical to their business, rising to 83% in telecommunications and 81% in media.

The benefits compound quickly, and we see all of them show up in our own partner relationships. Faster market access comes from tapping into a trusted partner's existing network, 94% of tech industry executives see innovation partnerships as a necessary growth strategy, not an optional one. Brand credibility shifts a vendor into a trusted service provider, and that credibility drives vendor selection directly, over 85% of B2B decision makers are more likely to shortlist a recognized, trusted vendor for a critical project. Partnerships also create repeatable revenue through white labelling, referrals, and integrations, high maturity partnership programs generate 28% of revenue compared to just 18% from paid search in the average business, and they deepen client relationships through extended service cycles and joint value delivery, Forrester found that effective partnership management can deliver 314% ROI over three years and increase profits by $1.3 million. Partner involved deals close faster too, 53% more likely to close and 46% quicker. Microsoft is the clearest large scale proof of all of this, 95% of its commercial revenue now runs through its partner ecosystem, which grows by roughly 7,500 partners a month.

For startups specifically, partnering with an experienced agency is often a faster path to growth than building every capability internally, something we hear directly from the startups we work with. It gives immediate access to technical expertise, scalable resources, and markets that would otherwise take years to reach. 72% of tech executives report that strategic partnerships help them access new markets faster than organic growth alone, and companies with strong partnerships are 33% more likely to lead in innovation. Startups collaborating with established partners see a 30% boost in innovative potential, and those partnering within their first 5 to 12 years see a 25% higher return on investment than those that don't. These alliances let startups share R&D and technical resources, co-launch services faster, and validate new use cases with real world feedback rather than guesswork.

Dropbox's early partnership with Samsung is a clear example, pre-installing the Dropbox app on Samsung devices let Dropbox expand its user base rapidly, building both reach and credibility at once. McKinsey's work with AWS helped a global pizza company build an e-commerce platform that increased customer conversion by 40%, improved satisfaction by 15%, and cut downtime to zero, and their work on Microsoft's IoT platform helped a wireless equipment manufacturer build a factory of the future in just 16 weeks. A good partnership works like a restaurant, the kitchen is your service, but the front of house experience and relationships are what bring customers back.

At Ollon, partnerships are one of our primary channels for marketing, customer acquisition, and growth. With 96% of B2B leaders expecting partner ecosystems to directly increase their revenue, we don't expect that to change.
