Legal Form Automation

PCK Intellectual Property, a law firm, wanted to automate its intellectual property practice and license the solution to other firms. Ollon built a web platform with OCR integration and a secure Windows agent connecting to PCK's legacy legal system. Processes that used to take days now take minutes, and PCK now markets the platform to other intellectual property firms.

PCK Intellectual Property, a law firm, wanted to automate many aspects of their intellectual property business and license that solution to other law firms.

Ollon developed a system that allowed the integration into new and legacy systems, which included a Web User Interface, Integration with an OCR (optical character recognition) system, and a Windows Agent which enabled a secure tunnel to the existing legacy legal platform.

The solution now underpins many aspects of the client's property law business, and is now actively marketed to other intellectual property firms. Processes that used to take days now take minutes.

Our Expertise in Action

Professional Services Platform

Turning internal automation into a product other firms could license was part of the plan from day one for PCK Intellectual Property, not something added after its own practice was running well. Ollon designed the platform to operate as a standalone product PCK could license out. Once PCK's own practice was running on it, PCK began marketing the platform directly to other intellectual property firms as a licensed product. What started as automation for one law firm became a platform product available to an entire professional services sector.

Custom application development

Ollon built a custom application combining ReactJS, C#, .NET, and PHP to run the intake and processing side of PCK Intellectual Property's intellectual property practice, a law firm that wanted the system to work internally first and be licensed to other firms later. The build combined a web interface with a Windows Agent reaching into PCK's legacy legal platform, together with OCR integration to bring document data into the system. That custom build became the foundation PCK later licensed out, turning an internally built application into a product it now markets to other intellectual property firms.

Business System Integrations

Replacing the legacy legal platform PCK Intellectual Property already depended on was never the goal of this project; the new application needed to work directly with it instead. Ollon built a Windows Agent to open a secure tunnel between the new web application and that legacy platform, giving the new system direct access to data PCK already ran on, and paired it with OCR integration so incoming document data could flow into the same environment. The legacy platform stayed in place and in use, with the new application connected directly into it, giving PCK one working system built from both the old platform and the new tools around it.

Unstructured data processing

Incoming documents for PCK Intellectual Property's intake process were not in a format the rest of the automated platform could work with directly, which is why OCR became part of the build. Ollon integrated an OCR system as part of the application built for the firm, converting incoming document content into a form the rest of the platform could process automatically. That OCR component worked alongside the web interface and the Windows Agent that made up the rest of the build, so that document data entering the intake process fed into the same automated system as everything else PCK ran through the platform.
